I Catch a Glimpse - Lens

There are a multitude of ways to perceive the world, using our eyes, our ears, our senses. Through various lenses, perspectives. We each process the world differently, in a continuous spectrum of shades that change over time. The pragmatic lens. The spiritual lens. The empirical lens. The emotional lens. The 'we/us' lens. The "I/Me" Lens. The inner lens. The outer lens. And so on.

In working with leaders in various industries over the past months, I notice patterns. I notice leaders of organizations, teams, projects, shifting lenses from moment to moment. We explore various ways of getting through each day, each challenge, each opportunity.

The We/Us Lens: What's at stake? What's your team's shared purpose?

The I/Me Lens: What's at stake? What cause has you strive so hard, so fast?

Each lens through which we perceive our world has information. Observe, acknowledge, and receive the perspective that's shared with you. For each perspective shared, there may be alignment and there may be misalignment. Either way, it's a lens through which we each perceive. A lens, not the lens.

For me, shifting lenses is like shifting one gear at a time, to build speed gradually and steadily; acquiring expanding perspectives that provide progress, one perspective at a time.

What's your word of the day?

Just one word.
