Inner Strength | Navigating the River of Life

How often do you tell yourself: “I need more balance in my life.”, “I need to balance my time better?” Too often perhaps.

You are among many who ask and wonder. It is a constant balancing act for anyone managing a full and thriving household and career, especially in the rapidly-changing pace of life and work these days.

Oftentimes, I feel as though I am on a boat navigating the rapids of a raging river, paddling one way then the other and it can feel off-balance, a burden.

At first I cannot see. Water is splashing into the boat and into my eyes.

I continue, pushing through and just when I think my energy is spent,

I clear the water from my eyes, look around and notice that there are others in the boat with me.

We catch each other’s eyes and with that connection, I feel a reserve of strength surge through my arms.

I go on until somehow we reach calmer waters.

It is a connection to someone, something that re-energizes and keeps us on track. In reality, we are constantly balancing. Every once in a while, if we get to equilibrium, well that would be wonderful!

I find connecting to our external support system as a source of strength is natural and important.

I also notice that connecting to our inner strength is key; it is a connection to what is important to us and to the reasons we started out on the journey in the first place.

What was the original purpose for who we are with, where we work, who we befriend?

There is somewhere an original purpose, and an origin story. We may have deep-seated beliefs of why we study a particular subject, strike a conversation with someone or make a conscious decision to start a new path in life.

Awakening to that original purpose, aligning with it, adjusting when necessary then navigating the river of life - that is joyful, meaningful and soul-enriching.

What are you awakening to in this moment?
